Carol of the Cards, 2018 Christmas Poem
Carol of the Cards
You forget, just how hard
A December day can be,
Until in a moment of low blood sugar
You feel the weight of the grey clouds
And the chill of the winter wind
That sneaks in through the window that will not close.
That is when you feel the shards
Of dark emotions, cutting you,
With the loneliness and your failures
That ever lurk within your mind.
Then you find the cards
In the mailbox,
Delivered by the post office
From friends and family
From across the lands.
And it is again,
A Merry Christmas time!
